What Is Try Scuba Diving?
The Try Scuba Diving (TSD) program is the easiest and fastest way to experience the underwater world of Koh Tao. It’s a one-day SSI beginner course open to anyone aged 8 and above — no experience required!
Our SSI-certified team provides:
- An introduction to scuba diving techniques and safety
- All the knowledge and equipment you need for your first dives
- Two dives around Koh Tao in safe, beginner-friendly conditions
- An unforgettable underwater adventure full of marine life
Note: Plan to stay at least one night on Koh Tao after your diving experience.
Who Can Join?
Age
From 8 years old.
Children aged 8–10 can dive to a maximum depth of 5 meters.
Health
Please complete and sign the medical form to check whether a medical certificate is needed.
Knowledge
No prior diving knowledge required — our instructors will teach you everything step by step!

Meet at AQUATAO Dive Center
Complete forms and prepare your dive equipment
Briefing: learn the basics, safety rules, and equipment use
Departure by boat
1st dive: Shallow training (2–5 m) + short exploration
2nd dive: Fun dive (5–12 m) with tropical marine life
Return to the center and log dives at our bar area
Good to Know
During your first dive, you’ll practice basic underwater skills in a calm, shallow area before exploring a coral reef. On the second dive, you’ll discover a more colorful site full of marine life such as turtles, angelfish, butterflyfish, barracudas, blue-spotted rays, and pufferfish.
From your very first breath underwater, you’ll experience why Koh Tao is world-famous for diving.

FAQ - Try Diving in Koh Tao
Do I need to know how to swim to try scuba diving?
Our activities are safe and supervised by certified instructors, although it’s best to feel comfortable in the water.
Some snorkeling experience can be helpful but isn’t mandatory.
Is the equipment provided?
Our gear is regularly checked and maintained to ensure comfort and safety.
Is insurance included in the price?
Medical insurance: up to 500,000 THB in case of an accident.
Should I bring my own lunch?
For lunch, you can order a French sandwich at the club or choose something nearby before departure.
Can I leave my belongings at the dive center during the trip?
Can a non-diver join the boat?
For safety reasons, they will need to stay on board during the dives.
Do you offer hotel transfers?
However, we can arrange a taxi, and AquaTao covers half of the fare.
